ˇˇˇˇPultruded FRP shapes are made from densely
packed continuous glass fibers wrapped
by a layer of glass mat.The dense fiber
core makes the shapes very tough and rigid,with
the absolute values of flexural strength
and impact strength in longitudinal direction
higher than those of common steels.The use
of glass mat increases the transverse strength
of the shapes and helps to form a resin-rich
layer on the surface to provide for good
corrosion resistance and cracking resistance.Therefore
the seshapes possess more advantages than
steels and have found moreeng engineering
applications.
APPLICATIONS
1 Refrigeration:
As athermal insulation,FRP can beused as
casings for refrigerators and cold-storages.It
is comparable with aluminum alloys in appearance
but much better than them in thermal insulation
performance.
2 Electrical Use:
With superior electric properties,FRP tubes
and rods are widely used as insulating support
members,antenna pillars,high-voltage cableways,
high voltage power operation rods,etc.
3 Petroleum/Chemical Engineering:
Having excellent corrosion resistance,FRP
are extensively used in petroleum and chemical
industries as racks for electric and pneumatic
lines, radiator cowls for generators,stairs
and handrails,opreration platforms,walkways,oil
storage tanks,switchboards and switchboard
rooms,drainage pipes and systems,berth identification
beacons and submarine beacons,oil well rods,filler
supports in towers,filter pad supports,etc.
4 Transportation
Used as pressure bars,comer rails,etc.in
trains and automobiles.FRP components are
light,good-looking and endurable.They can
also be used as guardrails,acoustic boards
anti-dazzle boards,etc.for speedways.
5 Construction
The applications inclde roof supports, uardrails
for buidings, reinforcing gratings for walls,etc.
